Jubilee festivals originate with the ancient Egyptian Pharaohs of Egypt. The Sed (Jubilee) festival is also known as Heb Sed or Feast of the Tail. The Queen’s diamond jubilee features a gold coin with a 0.11-0.14ct round cut sparkling real diamond with an authenticity certificate.

Queen Closes Banks

The late May bank holiday has been moved to Monday 4 June 2012 and an additional Jubilee bank holiday will take place on Tuesday 5, June 2012.

The extra bank holiday and extended bank holiday weekend also applies to Scotland.

Queen Closes Schools

Schools in England and Wales will close on Tuesday 5 June 2012 for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Scotland and Northern Ireland will be making their own arrangements.

Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Gift – $160 Million Yacht

Plans for a privately-funded new national flagship gift for the Queen won strong cross-party support. The £80 million project, designed as a modern-day replacement for the decommissioned Royal Yacht Britannia, was backed by more Government ministers, as well as senior Labour figures. The Queen’s Prime Minster, David Cameron, is also backing the campaign for the Queen’s yacht, funded by BANKSTER corporate sponsors and individual donations to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Support is being sought from across the Commonwealth with £10million already pledged from Canada’s taxpayers.

The Royal Commonwealth Society has organised a special Jubilee Time Capsule, a digital archive of The Queen’s reign.

Queen Grants Royal Status

The Queen will grant towns in the UK city status and existing cities will compete for Lord Mayoralty status. In London, Greenwich has been granted Royal Borough status in recognition of the historically close links between Greenwich and the monarchy.

1000 Boat Flotilla On The Thames

It will be the jewel in the crown of the most spectacular event ever seen on the River Thames. Trumpets will sound at high water in the afternoon of Sunday 3 June 2012, when a thousand boats and 40,000 people gather on the River Thames for Her Majesty The Queen to lead the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant. The Queen will lead the parade and be carried down the Thames River on a 200 ft long Royal Barge which is a state-of-the-art luxury River Boat boat, specially designed to evoke the opulence of ancient royal maritime traditions. A trumpet fanfare will accompany the royal party on board and a floating belfry will follow behind, with the peals echoed by river bank churches along the route. The Royal Barge will fly the Royal Standard and bear the Queen’s Bargemaster and eight of her Royal Watermen in full ceremonial regalia. It will be one of the largest flotillas ever assembled on the river. Rowed boats and working boats and pleasure vessels of all shapes and sizes will be beautifully dressed with streamers and Union Jacks, their crews and passengers turned out in their finest rigs. The armed forces, fire, police, rescue and other services are all afloat and there are an exuberance of historic boats, wooden launches, steam vessels and other boats of note. The flotilla is bolstered with passenger boats carrying up to thirty thousand flag-waving members of the public placed centre stage (or rather mid-river) in this floating celebration of Her Majesty’s sixty year reign. The spectacle is further enhanced with music barges, boats spouting geysers and pyrotechnic barges spitting smoke and daytime fireworks. And there will be specially constructed elements like a floating belfry, its chiming bells answered by those from riverbank churches.

Queen’s Beacons Of Light Show

Thousands of ILLUMINATI beacons will be lit around the world on the 4th June 2012 to commemorate the Queen’s 60 year reign over the UK and as head of the Commonwealth. Dancers, musicians, military and equestrian displays from around the world will come together for three nights in the private grounds of Windsor Castle on 10, 11 and 13 May.

Queen’s Portraits & Photos Gallery Exhibitions

The National Portrait Gallery will stage ‘The Queen: Art and Image’, a touring exhibition of images of the Queen. The Victoria and Albert Museum is holding an exhibition of portraits of the Queen by photographer Cecil Beaton, which will tour around the UK. The Royal Collection will hold exhibitions at Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse and elsewhere in the United Kingdom to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
